Outside the Jacob Riis Houses at the corner of 6th & D on a scorching hot summer day in 2014, the idea for @bodegasofnyc was born and quickly amassed an Instagram following as diverse as New York City itself.  From Brooklyn to the Bronx, Staten Island to Queens and into Manhattan, Bodegas of NYC is on a mission to meet up with as many New Yorkers as possible to capture images of their favorite bodegas, delis, and local grocery stores and hear about how these small businesses play a role in their everyday lives. We're currently working towards a feature collection of bodega recipes and stories from dozens of New Yorkers with the intent of providing a uniquely diverse and democratic view of this decade's New York City. What has revealed itself thus far in production is not only a collection of stunning portraits and delicious recipes for any New Yorker on the go, but also a travel guide uncovering corners of each of the city's 5 boroughs, many of which have been overlooked by main stream media.
